The Perfect Valentine’s Day Charcuterie Board

Valentine’s Day charcuterie boards were popping up all over my Instagram and Pinterest this year! This beautiful board is a fun twist on the traditional cheese, cracker and meat platters that are usually served at parties. When my girlfriends and I decided to throw a family Valentine’s Day party this year we knew we had to try this out. They were an absolute success! In addition to happy kids, we also had a pretty, mess-free and easy prep dessert that also doubled as a decoration!

When planning a Charcuterie Board, there really is no “wrong” way to do it. For the first board, we started with a gorgeous wood cutting board from Target (similar one could be found here on Amazon) but you can easily use any flat tray. I would recommend a plain solid color tray so that you do not distract or take away from the aesthetic of the food. Another option is to use a white glass platter like the one we used for our gluten-free tray below.

Once you have your trays picked out, you just need to decide on the treats to add. Since we were celebrating Valentine’s Day, we wanted desserts and treats that were red, pink or white. We also wanted to mix in chocolate elements because, well, who doesn’t like chocolate! We shopped like crazy at Target and ended up with a variety of candy and cookies that the kids would love. We added in some salty elements like Skinny Pop kettle popcorn and chocolate covered pretzels to mix up the flavors.

These boards were a huge success and I can’t wait until the next holiday to make another themed board! What are your favorite types of charcuterie boards? Share a comment with some ideas for my next one!
